Captured Spitfire DB605 Engine Conversion Kit
OverView
Built from a Spitfire Mk Vb airframe captured in November 1942, this curious aircraft was used by Daimler Benz to demonstrate the superior qualities of German engines. The Spitfire, airframe EN830 with CJ+ZY markings, was powered by a DB 605 engine covered with a modified ME110 engine bonnet. The test program of this aircraft was to set the record straight concerning the so-called superiority of British motor technology. The plane flew several times but was later destroyed in an american bombing raid.
This conversion set includes 12 parts. Some cutting and assembly is required, but comprehensive, well illustrated instructions and painting guide are included to leave no guess work to the modeler. A lot of effort was put into the developpement of this kit to make it as easy to build and accurate as possible. A 1/48 Tamiya Spitfire V kit is required for this conversion (sold separately).
